Knee Surgery Glendale, CA

Knee surgery is used to treat different conditions that cause knee pain. When non-surgical methods have been exhausted and there is no relief surgery becomes the recommended treatment.

Different Types of Knee Surgery

A Maenisectomy involves the removal of a portion of the meniscus cartilage from the knee joint. The meniscus is the shock-absorbing wedge of the cartilage that sits on the tibia in the knee that provides a cushion with the impact.

Meniscus Repair

When a meniscus tear happens your surgeon may choose to repair the torn meniscus with an arthroscopic procedure. This may sometimes be the best option for the patient as it could decrease their risk of future arthritis by not having to remove a portion of the meniscus.

Torn ACL Repair Surgery

The ACL ligament is one of the 4 major ligaments of the knee and is responsible for the stability of the knee. A torn ACL is the most common type of injury in athletes.

Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery

Carpal Tunnel surgery is used to treat and potentially heal the pain associated with carpal tunnel syndrome. Reasons your doctor may recommend carpal tunnel release surgery:

  • Non-surgical interventions do not relieve the pain.
  • The muscles of the hands or wrists are weak and are getting smaller because of the severe pinching of the median nerve.
  • Symptoms of carpal tunnel have lasted more than 6 months with no relief.

Shoulder Surgery at Brand Surgical Institute

Rotator Cuff Tear

The group of muscles and tendons that surround the shoulder joint is known as the rotator cuff. The rotator cuff’s job is to keep your upper arm bone firmly in place within the shoulder.

Diagnosis and Symptoms

The pain caused by a rotator cuff tear is usually described as a light to medium pain which start deep in the shoulder. It can disturb you while you sleep, especially when lying on the problem shoulder. Surgical and nonsurgical options are both available. Come in for a consultation and we’ll decide what the best path is for you.

Surgical Options

Surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff often  involves the tendon having to be reattached to the head of humerus (upper arm bone). A partial tear, may need only a trimming or smoothing procedure called a debridement. The surgery takes less than 1 hour, patients go home the same day and are in a sling for two to four weeks.

Dislocated Shoulder

Depending on the extent of the dislocated shoulder, surgery can be required to repair a torn labrum or tighten-up stretched or torn ligaments or tendons.

Surgical Options

At Brand Surgical, we use an arthroscopic technique which allows for only a very minor incision allowing for minimal damage to surrounding areas.

6 weeks after, you will have to go through about 3-6 months of physical therapy to help with regaining the muscle and restoring the range of motion.

Frozen Shoulder

Surgical & Other

Steroid injections – Corticosteroids are a good way to assist with pain relief and improve mobility in your shoulder.
