Dr. Trong B. Nguyen’s specialties include Shoulder Instability Repair, Total Shoulder Replacement Surgery, Arthroscopic Knee and Shoulder Surgery, Sports Medicine, Hip Arthroscopy, ACL Reconstruction, Rotator Cuff and Labral Repairs, Meniscus Tears, Arthritis Diagnosis and Treatment, Joint Reconstruction (Knee, Shoulder, and Hip Replacement), Tendon and Ligament Reconstruction, Tennis Elbow, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Fracture Care and Surgery, and Pediatric and Adolescent Orthopedics. He also has additional expertise and certification to perform robotic-arm assisted total knee, partial knee and hip replacement. Thru this advanced robotic technology, he is able to create a personalized surgical plan based on each patient’s unique anatomy and perform joint replacement surgery with increased accuracy. The target outcomes are reduced pain, quicker recoveries with patients returning to active lifestyles.
Education
Dr. Nguyen is Fellowship-trained in Sports Medicine. Dr. Nguyen received his Undergraduate Degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at UCLA and his medical degree at UC San Diego. After medical school, he completed his residency training in New York at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine – Montefiore Medical Center program, where he excelled in the specialty of orthopedic surgery. Dr. Trong Nguyen is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) and holds the proud distinction of being a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS). He also completed his fellowship in Sports Medicine and Joint Reconstruction at the ACGME-accredited Southern California Center for Sports Medicine in Long Beach, CA.

Dr. Trong B. Nguyen, M.D. is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and the Medical Director of the Total Shoulder Replacement Program at the MemorialCare Joint Replacement Center at Orange Coast Medical Center. He sub-specializes in sports surgery and the care of athletes.
