Breast reduction, also known as a reduction mammoplasty, provides relief for women by reducing back, neck, bra strap, and shoulder pain caused by heavy breasts. A reduction in breast volume can also improve a woman’s ability to find clothing and bras that fit more appropriately and comfortably. Brand Surgical Institute is a state-of-the-art surgical facility specializing in the latest and safest techniques. Our surgical experts carefully reduce your breast volume to ensure optimal comfort.
How can a Breast reduction help you?
How does breast reduction work?
Breast reduction is a surgical procedure that aims to reduce breast volume. The surgeon makes strategic incisions around the breasts, through which they remove excess fat tissues and glandular tissues, making your breasts look relatively smaller and more proportional. Since a significant amount of excess skin and glandular tissues need to be removed, the most common incisions used are the lollipop and anchor incisions. A scar is necessary in exchange for a new sculpted shape and volume reduction.
Depending on the extent of the procedure, your surgeon may remove excess fat from the side of the breast and under the armpit with liposuction. In this case, the surgeon will drive a hollow cannula through the incision, liquefy the excess fat tissues, and suction them out of your body. The breast tissues will be reshaped and repositioned with the use of sutures to help maintain the positioning of the reduced breasts. This procedure improves your breast contours and alleviates chronic pain conditions.
Benefits of breast reduction:
- Alleviate back pain, neck pain, and shoulder pain
- Reduce the discomfort and pain caused by heavy breasts
- Reduce the pain caused by bra straps
- Increase your ability to fit into more clothes
- Allow you to engage in physical activities comfortably
- Make breasts look more proportional and youthful
- Improve confidence and comfort
You are the ideal candidate for breast reduction if:
- You have heavy breasts that cause discomfort
- You have back pain, shoulder pain, or neck pain because of your breasts
- You want to engage in physical activities, such as running, more easily
- You want your breasts to look more proportional
- You are in good physical health
- You have realistic expectations from the procedure
- You are a nonsmoker or willing to stop smoking before and after the procedure
What happens during breast reduction?
Brand Surgical Institute performs a highly personalized surgery after a thorough evaluation. Our surgeons will examine your anatomy, perform a breast exam, discuss your goals, review your medical history, and determine your candidacy for the procedure. After a thorough evaluation, they will curate a personalized surgical plan, which involves selecting the appropriate incision style and determining if you need liposuction.
The surgeon will make an incision around the areola and down to the breast crease (lollipop incision) or extend the incision horizontally along the breast crease (anchor incision). If liposuction is necessary, the surgeon will insert a cannula to suction away excess fat cells. The surgeon will also trim away excess skin tissues and fat deposits, reduce breast size, and reposition the nipple to make it look proportional.
What is recovery like after breast reduction?
You will have to wear supportive bras and compression garments for a few days to reduce swelling and improve healing. You may experience soreness, tenderness, and bruising for a few days after the procedure. You’ll start to regain strength and energy in about seven days, but you will need a week off work, depending on the nature of your job. During this time, you’ll have to limit your activities. You can resume most of your regular physical activities after 6 to 8 weeks.
